Two-time Olympic diver Sylvia Fiedler missed the platform final at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. Four years later at München she placed sixth in the same event. In 1970 Fiedler won a bronze medal at the European Championships in Barcelona. In 1968 and 1970 she won the East German platform title, while in 1971-73 she came in second.
