East German diver Thomas Knuths finished sixth on platform at the 1980 Moskva Olympics. His greatest sports moment came at the 1985 Sofia Europeans when he won gold. In 1979, 1981, 1982, and 1985 he won East German titles. He trained in electro-mechanics but later studied sports at the DHfK Leipzig (Deutsche Hochschule für Körperkultur). After German re-unification he moved to Lake Constance and became a diving and swimming coach.
