Biography

Peter Lang, a West German breaststroke swimmer, participated in both the 1976 Montréal and 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics. On both occasions, he missed the semi-finals over 200 metres. However, over 100 metres, he reached the semi-finals in 1976 but was 11th overall in 1984. At Montréal he was on the bronze-winning medley relay squad, but swam only the heats. Due to the Western bloc boycott, he was not able to participate in Moskva in 1980. At the 1975 Cali World Championships he also swam only the heats of the medley relay, when the squad went on to win the silver medal.

Lang won four West German 100 metres breaststroke national titles in 1980-82 and 1984. He later studied architecture and graduated. He then worked in the Rhein-Neckar region.
