German swimmer Paul Malisch qualified for the 1912 Stockholm Games at the age of 30, and won the bronze medal in the 200 metres breaststroke. Malisch also finished fourth in the 400 breast. In the former GDR, he lived in East Berlin and was known, honoured, and swam at swimming festivals until the early-1960s. Malisch remained connected with swimming throughout his life, even after his active competitive career.
