Biography
Mária Littomeritzky competed at three Olympics as a swimmer for Hungary, winning a gold in the 1952 4x100 free relay. Littomeritzky won a silver at the 1954 European Championships in the 100 butterfly, and a silver medal in the 100 freestyle at the 1947 Universiade. She twice swam on Hungarian relay squads that broke the 4x100 freestyle relay world record. She won 23 Hungarian championships between 1943-58 in freestyle and butterfly.
Littomeritzky later trained as a pharmacist and worked at the MÁV Hospital in Budapest. She also worked as a trainer and was a member of the Hungarian Board of Physical Education and Sports as well as the National Board of Physical Education and Sports Federation. In 2016 she was inducted into the Hungarian Swimming Hall of Fame.
