János Wenk started to compete at the age of 13 as a breaststoker but was later more successful in water polo. As a member of FTC, he became a 12-time Hungarian champion in water polo. Wenk also played in the first ever game of the Hungarian national team at the Stockholm Olympics. Between 1912-27, Wenk earned 37 international caps. During this time, he was European Champion twice (1926-27) and finished fifth at two Olympics, in 1912 and 1924. He also won five Hungarian titles in swimming. After finishing his sports career, Wenk worked as a social security officer.
