Lukman Niode swam for Indonesia at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. He also carried the Indonesian flag at the 1984 Opening Ceremony. Niode competed at the Asian Games from 1978-86 and won eight medals, all bronze. He later worked in sports administration and was a member of the Organizing Committee for the 2018 Asian Para Games. Sadly, in 2020, Niode contracted COVID-19 and died from the effects of the coronavirus.
