Biography

Jopie Selbach was a Dutch competitive swimmer who specialised in the freestyle. Selbach was part of the Dutch national swimming team that set multiple world and European records in the 1930s. Along with Ans Timmermans, Rie Mastenbroek, and Willy den Ouden, she won gold in the 4×100 metres freestyle relay at the 1934 European Aquatics Championships in Magdeburg, Germany. Two years later Selbach, Mastenbroek, den Ouden, and Tini Wagner won gold in the same event at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
