Biography

Born in Portuguese Mozambique in 1939, Regina Veloso began swimming at Desportivo Maputo when she was ten. In 1958 Veloso moved to Portugal where she joined the national swimming team and competed at the Portuguese championships. She soon became the national champion, setting multiple records along the way to securing herself a place on the Olympic team. At the 1960 Roma Games Veloso swam in the 200 metres breaststroke but did not advance from her heat.
