Biography

Soviet sportsman Mikhail Osintsev played both bandy and field hockey before becoming a successful coach in the latter. On the ice Osintsev was a multiple-time Soviet bandy champion, winning nine titles from 1956 to 1969, making the list of the best players of the season on seven occasions. With the Soviet national bandy team he won six consecutive world titles from 1957 to 1969. Following his playing career Osintsev worked as field hockey coach, leading the Soviet women’s team to bronze at the 1980 Moskva Olympics.
