Biography

Aleksandr Vedenin was a Russian figure skater who became a Soviet champion, national coach, and judge. Vedenin graduated from the Aviation Institute in Moskva with a degree in engineering and practiced figure skating at the Pioneers Stadium in the city. In singles skating he became a two-time champion of the USSR (1963, 1965), won an individual and team bronze at the USSR championships in 1967, and won a bronze in the USSR Cup in 1969. Following his sporting career Vedenin worked as the coach of the Soviet national figure skating team, and in his capacity as a judge he officiated in the singles competition at the 1988 Calgary Olympics.
