Born in Orenburg, Russia in 1959 Stanislav Alfredovich “Alfred” Korytek graduated from the Moskva State University with a degree in Physical Culture. From there Korytek became a coaching co-ordinator at a figure skating school in Dnipro, Ukraine. As a coach he taught multiple young athletes, many of whom later competed at national and international competitions. In 1993 Korytek immigrated to Canada where he coached figure skaters in addition to becoming a skating judge with the International Skating Union (ISU). He officiated at the 1994 Lillehammer and 1998 Nagano Olympics, as well as multiple editions of the World Figure Skating Championships. In 2000 Korytek was handed a one-year suspension by the ISU for improperly communicating with fellow judge Svyatoslav Babenko at the 1999 World Figure Skating Championships in Helsinki, Finland.
