Biography

Badara Sène was a Senegalese football referee who officiated in international matches during the 1980s and 1990s. Sène’s most famous game that he refereed was the final of the 1992 African Cup of Nations, which took place in Dakar, Senegal. The match finished 0–0 after extra time, with Côte d’Ivoire eventually beating Ghana 11–10 on penalties. He had previously refereed matches at the African Cup of Nations tournaments in 1988 and 1990, in addition to officiating in three matches at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Following his retirement Sène served as a mayor of the port city of Rufisque from 2009 until 2014.
