A life member of the National Skating Association (NSA), Wilson was a women’s skating judge at the 1936 Winter Olympics but also officiated in many other major competitions including the World Championships at Manchester in 1924, at London in 1929, and at the 1933 European Championships, also in London.
Wilson’s father James Wilson was a director of the Leeds family business of Wilsons and Mathieson gas stove manufacturers, and James’ brother Henry invented the first gas fire in Britain. Charles was a research chemist, and later a mechanical draughtsman.
