Biography

Carlo Dani was an Italian football manager and referee. Born in Torino he moved to Genova at a young age to complete his studies. Together with Enrico Tergolina, he founded the Fiorente F.C., a team that played some second series championships and participated in the first edition of the Italian Cup in 1922 where it was defeated 4-3 after extra time by Vado, the eventual Cup winner.

After participating in World War I where he received wounds and honors, he enrolled in the Italian Referees Association in 1919. As a referee, he managed international matches as well as league games, where he was in charge in Serie A from 13 October 1929 to 11 June 1933. After his career in the field, he became a manager of the C.I.T.A. (the Italian Referee Association), which at the end of the war became A.I.A., while from the 1948-49 season he became the head of the National Referees Commission for several years.
