Biography

Australian boxer Robert Dauer competed as a welterweight during the 1970s and became the Victorian state champion in September 1973. The following year Dauer fought at the British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch where he lost to the Irish boxer John Rodgers in the quarter-finals. In 1976 he became the Australian national champion when he beat Mike Hawkins by knockout. This performance earned Dauer a place on the Olympic team for the 1976 Games in Montréal where he won against Frans van Bronckhorst before losing to Mike McCallum.
