German archer Barabara Mensing won two team medals at the 1996 Atlanta (silver) and the 2000 Sydney (bronze) Olympics. Individually, she came eighth and 29th respectively. At World Championships Mensing won an individual silver in 1995 and a team bronze in 1999. At the Europeans, she won team golds in 1996 and 1998, two silvers, both individually and with the team, in 1994, and another bronze in 1996. Her highest world ranking was No. 4 in 1997.
Mensing later worked as a personnel officer and raised a son. She was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award in 2000. She was also active in silk painting.
