Marian Gilman just missed a medal in the 100 backstroke at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, finishing fourth. She was third at the 1928 US Olympic Trials, swimming for the Neptune Beach Swim Club. Gilman later became Marian Sharpe and worked as a telephone operator. She was the sister of Ralph Gilman, who swam at the 1936 Olympics.
