Jeanne Haney had placed fifth at the 1975 AAU Meet in the 400 IM, and surprised in making the 1976 US Olympic team by placing second in the 400 IM at the Olympic Trials. She was just out of high school in 1976, and then swam for UCLA, graduating in 1981. Haney also represented for the Aquarius Swim Club. She later worked as a dental hygienist in Woodland Hills, California.
