Alice Lord was a diver and swimmer for the Women’s Swimming Association. At age 13 she became known for swimming nine miles across Long Island Sound. On the trip to Antwerp in 1920, Lord met high jumper Dick Landon and a romance blossomed, with the two marrying in 1922. In the mid-1940s Lord and Landon were instrumental in forming the United States Olympians, an association of US Olympic athletes. Lord-Landon was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1993.
