Dana Schoenfield won her only AAU championship in 1972, when she took the 200m breaststroke title. The AAUs also served as the Final Olympic Trials in 1972 and she confirmed her form by being the first American to finish in the 200m breaststroke at the Olympics. Schoenfield went on to study communications at UCLA and worked for several years in public relations with advertising firms in California. While at UCLA she met her husband, Robert Reyes, who played football for UCLA in the 1976 Rose Bowl. Mrs. Dana Schoenfield Reyes also begun a second career, studying dance and acting.
