Matt Gribble was an All-American swimmer at the University of Miami. He won two NCAA titles there in the butterfly, and also won a gold medal at the 1983 Universiade, and three gold medals at the 1983 Pan-American Games. In 1983 he also broke the world record in the 100 fly.
