The 100m freestyle final at the 1920 Olympics was swum twice because the Australian, Bill Herald, claimed that Norman Ross had fouled him in the first race. Bill Harris, from the Outrigger Canoe Club in Hawaii, finished third in each race. He was also a finalist in the 400m free but failed to finish the race.
