A backstroker, Bob Jackson competed at the 1975 Pan American Games, winning a silver in the 100 metre backstroke and bronze in the 200 back. He attended the University of Arizona, starting after the Montréal Olympics, where he also played water polo. At both the 1978 World Championships and the 1979 Pan American Games, Jackson won gold medals in the 100 backstroke and the medley relay. Jackson was inducted into the University of Arizona Sports Hall of Fame in 2010.
