Charles Pyrah competed in the plunge for distance event at the 1904 St. Louis Olympics, the only time this event was on the Olympic Program. Pyrah was born in West Yorkshire, England but came to the US as a youth. He represented the Philadelphia Swimming Club, and worked as a clerk in the Philadelphia water bureau.
