Peter Wright was a distance freestyler who competed at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics in the 1,500 metre freestyle. Wright won a silver medal in the 400 free at the 1991 Universiade. Wright swam in college at Oberlin College.
Wright later became a swim coach and administrator. He worked in Spartanburg, South Carolina with the Y-Spartaquatics Swim Club, where he was also a technical planning chair and senior vice-chair for South Carolina Swimming. He later settled in New Jersey where he coached the First Colony Swim Team.
