Alejandro Carrizo was a Venezuelan swimmer who participated in the 4x100 free relay at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. The relay was eliminated in the heats. He retired directly after the Games.
Carrizo was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and was raised both in Irvine-California, USA – until he was five years of age – and Caracas. Due to the precarious situation in his home country, he moved to the USA in the late 1990s, where he lived and worked for many years. He became a physical therapist and had the opportunity to visit many countries in Central and South America.
In 2004, he embarked on a new adventure and moved to Europe. He spent a total of six years in Valencia, Spain, before moving with his German wife to her hometown of Koblenz in 2010. He worked there for 10 years as a physiotherapist and coach for the competitive swimmers at SC Poseidon. With his own sports club called “La Ola”, Carrizo fulfilled a long-held dream to coach children in swimming.
