Holly McPeak

Holly McPeak played at three Olympics in beach volleyball, with three different partners, winning a bronze medal in 2004 alongside Elaine Youngs. McPeak played college volleyball initially at U Cal Berkeley, but after a coaching change, she did not get along with the new coach and transferred to UCLA. She led the Bruins to the NCAA title in 1990. After that year she worked as an assistant coach at UCLA for one year before concentrating on beach volleyball.

McPeak had started playing beach in 1987 with the WPVA tour, but in 1993 she moved to the AVP Tour. She played professionally through 2009, mostly on the AVP Tour, but also on the WPVA, USAV, BVA, and FIVB Tours. During her career she won 72 tournaments with 28 wins on the AVP Tour, 23 on the WPVA Tour, and 19 on the FIVB Tour. She was the leading money winner on the WPVA Tour in 1995-97 and the AVP Tour in 2000-02.

McPeak was inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame in 2009, and the California BVA Hall of Fame in 2011. She won multiple honors throughout her career, including AVP MVP in 1993 and WPVA MVP in 1995-96. She was also voted Best Defensive Player on the AVP Tour in 2002-04 and the WPVA Tour in 1995-97.

After her retirement from playing, McPeak has worked as a color commentator for Pac-10 volleyball matches. She is married to Leonard Armato, former AVP Tour commissioner.
