Luis Felipe Calderón played volleyball for Cuba at the 1972 München Olympics and helped them win a gold medal at the 1971 Pan American Games. He later became a coach, leading the Cuban women to gold at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and bronze at the 2004 Athinai Olympics. Calderón also led the Cuban women to gold at the 2002 and 2006 World Championships. His daughter, Rosir Calderón, played volleyball for Cuba at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics, winning bronze in 2004.
