Yury KorovKorovyansky played volleyball for the Soviet Union and Ukraine, competing at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics as a member of the Unified Team. His first club in senior competition was Shaktar Donetsk in Ukraine (1984-93). He later played in Greece with Orestiada in 1993-94 and Pafos in Cyprus in 1994-95. He played through 2006, playing in France with Tours (1996-97), Paris (1997-98), Strasbourg (1998-2001), and Cambrai (2001-04). Korovyansky played on the Soviet team that won the World Cup and European Championship in 1991. He later became a coach in France with Cambrai. His son, Artem Korovyansky, became a top player in France, starting out in 2010 with Cambrai. Yuriy Korovyansky died after struggling for several years with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
