Oleg Moliboga got into volleyball against his will, as he started as a footballer. When sports school began to interfere with his studies, he had to switch to another ball game, and his father encouraged him to try volleyball, which had been his sport. At the age of 20, Oleg Moliboga won the European Youth Championship, and then went to Moscow to join CSKA volleyball club. At the 1976 and 1980 Olympic Games, he took part in all the USSR matches. He was twice a World Champion and four times became European Champion. Immediately after retiring as a player, Moliboga became a coach. He was the coach of the Unified Team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and the Russian team at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
