Nick Becker came from a volleyball family, as his sister, Carolyn Becker, won a silver medal for the US at the 1984 Olympics. Becker played college volleyball at Pepperdine, before making the US National team and winning a bronze medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Becker later played beach volleyball for a few years before retiring from competition in 1997.
Becker and former teammate Bob Ctvrtlik co-founded Green Street, a company that refurbished and sold distressed properties in south central Los Angeles. Becker worked for four years with Green Street, before going out on his own in real estate. Becker’s son, Spencer, was also a top high school volleyballer at Mater Dei High School in Los Angeles, but was tragically killed in a car accident before his senior year.
