Hermann, brother of Rudolf Buchfelder, was an Austrian water polo player who finished fourth with the national team at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. The team qualified for the final round but lost 8-0 to Great Britain. In the silver medal tournament, they lost 8-1 to Sweden, and in the third-place tournament, 5-4 to Belgium. Buchfelder was also a swimmer.
