Gianni Averaimo was a member of the Italian water polo team that won a gold medal in Barcelona (1992), but as the reserve goalkeeper behind Francesco Attolico, he didn’t play. Averaimo was active at the European Championships of 1987, 1989 (twice bronze) and 1993 (gold), and won more than 300 caps. Domestically, he won the Italian title twice, with Savona in 1991 and 1992.
