Francisco García competed for Mexico at three Olympics in water polo, 1968, 1972, and 1976. He won a gold medal at the 1975 Pan American Games, and added bronze medals at the Pan Ams in 1967 and 1971. In March 2016 García was returning from a morning workout and was assaulted. Resisting the attacker, he was shot three times and died from his injuries.
