Harold Dash attended Northwestern University after serving as a Naval lieutenant commander in World War II. He later had a prominent advertising agency in Chicago, Dash Associates. He worked in politics as well, as a campaign manager for Illinois politician Michael Howlett, eventually the Secretary of State, throughout his career.
