Chris Duplanty played water polo for the US at the 1988, 1992, and 1996 Olympics, winning a silver medal in 1988. He also won two medals at the Pan American Games, a gold in 1995 and a silver in 1987, and was a member of the 1991 World Cup Champions. He then was an assistant coach for the US women’s team at the 2000 Olympics, which won a silver medal.
Duplanty grew up in Hawai’i, where he was a national caliber swimmer and played water polo. He attended UC Irvine, graduating in 1989, and then obtaining an MBA from the school in 1992. In 1989 Duplanty was chosen as UCl’s Scholar Athlete of the Year as well as the Big West Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He later worked for the US Olympic Committee for 10 years in various roles, before taking a position as director of sales for Arena North America, the swimwear company.
