Gary Sheerer won a gold medal at the 1967 Pan American Games and played on the Olympic team the following year. He missed the 1971 Pan-Am Games, but won an Olympic bronze medal in München in 1972. Sheerer graduated from Stanford with a degree in engineering in 1969.
