Biography

Jon Svendsen played water polo for the Concord Water Polo Club and UC Berkeley. He graduated from Cal in 1975, leading them to the NCAA Championship in 1973, 1974, and 1975, being named tournament MVP in 1973 and 1975. He was a four-time All-American and also swam for Cal, making All-American in that sport four times. Svendsen played on the US national team from 1973 to 1984, playing at the World Championships in 1973, 1975, 1978, and 1982. He won three medals at the Pan American Games, with silver in 1975, and golds in 1979 and 1983. Svendsen was elected to the US Water Polo Hall of Fame in 1989.
