William Vosburgh attended Oak Park & River Forest High School and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1913, where he was captain of the swim team. He represented the Illinois Athletic Club, for whom he won multiple regional titles, and competed on the water polo team at the 1920 Antwerp games. Vosburgh was inducted into the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame in 1981.
