Liu Shoubin had the following podium finishes at major championships: 3rd in the 1988 Olympics Bantamweight class (267.5 kg); 2nd in the 1992 Olympics Bantamweight class (277.5 kg); 2nd in the 1987 World Championships Bantamweight class (275.0 kg); 2nd in the 1989 World Championships Bantamweight class (285.0 kg); 1st in the 1990 World Championships Bantamweight class (285.0 kg); 2nd in the 1991 World Championships Bantamweight class (292.5 kg); 2nd in the 1990 Asian Games Bantamweight class. He set two snatch world records.
