Daniel Nuñez had the following podium finishes at major championships: 1st in the 1980 Olympics Bantamweight class (275.0 kg); 1st in the 1978 World Championships Bantamweight class (260.0 kg); 1st in the 1980 World Championships Bantamweight class (275.0 kg); 2nd in the 1981 World Championships Featherweight class (302.5 kg); 3rd in the 1982 World Championships Featherweight class (295.0 kg); 1st in the 1979 Pan-American Games Bantamweight (262.5 kg). He set 10 world records – eight in the snatch, and two in the total.
