Biography

Martin Eberle finished 11th at the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games in the featherweight class. In his youth, Eberle was a gymnast, but soon turned to weightlifting. Domestically, he won eight West German national titles – from 1957-59 as a bantamweight, and in 1960-64 as a featherweight. He finished fifth at both the 1959 and 1963 Europeans. Eberle died in 1991 at the age of 60 after a long illness.
