Biography

Italian-born weightlifter Pietro Masala represented West Germany at the 1972 München Olympic Games. He competed in the lightweight event, but did not finish the competition, because he did not have a valid lift in the military press section. The same year Masala was the West German lightweight champion. He won the national featherweight title in 1976, and helped AC 1892 Mutterstadt win the West German Team Championships in 1965, 1967-71, 1973 and 1979.
