Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, weightlifter Dimitri Prochorow represented Germany at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and placed 11th in the heavyweight II class. On a national level, he won his only title in 1999, and added one more silver and two bronzes. Prochorow later became a physiotherapist by profession. His son Alexej participated in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
