Born in Osh, Kyrgyzstan, weightlifter Igor Sadykov represented Germany at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and placed seventh in the heavyweight I class. Until 1991 he represented the Soviet Union and won four gold medals at the World Championships, as well as one silver and one bronze. In 1993, Sadykov then represented Germany and added two more bronze medals at the Worlds. At the 1997 Europeans, he also won a gold medal. Sadykov won the German national titles in 1993 and 1994.
