Atanas Atanasov

Atanas Atanasov played on the Bulgarian national team from 1956-75, including at the 1956 and 1960 Olympic Games. A guard, he was a two-time medalist at the European Championships (now EuroBasket), winning silver in 1957 and a bronze medal in 1961. At the Balkan Championships Atanasov led Bulgaria to golds in 1959 and 1960.

At the club level Atanasov played with Spartak Pleven from 1951-53, then was with Levski in 1953-69, and finished his career with Poshtenets in Sofia from 1969-75. He helped win the Bulgarian Cup in 1969 and led Levski to a runner-up finish at the 1969 Bulgarian Championships.
