Donald Abrahamson graduated from the University of Central Florida as a computer science major, and later worked as a software programmer. Abrahamson was national collegiate champion at Central Florida. He won the US Nationals in 1978 and 1972 and the National Sports Festival in 1978, 1981, and 1983. His only international win was the 1981 Commonwealth Invitational in Brisbane, Australia. His sister competed at the 1979 National Sports Festival in softball.
