Dan Cantore attended U Cal Berkeley, graduating in 1972, and competed for the Alex Gym. He was US Champion from 1971-76, and in 1974 was US Weightlifter of the Year. Cantore won three silver medals in weightlifting at the 1975 Pan American Games as a lightweight. He broke several American records in the 1970s. Cantore is a member of the US Weightlifting Hall of Fame. Cantore became a schoolteacher at Highlands School in California, teaching grades 5-8.
