Mario Martinez was a super-heavyweight weightlifter who represented the United States at the 1984, 1988, and 1992 Olympic Games, winning a silver medal in 1984. Martinez won nine medals at the Pan American Games, competing in 1987, 1991, and 1995, winning all three gold medals in the 1987 unlimited class. He was a 10-time US Champion, winning in 1982-89 and 1991-92. Martinez was known for his bent-arm pulling style.
